Release Notes

A jQuery based assembly-free solution that uses AJAX to automatically reload any list-based Web Parts as soon as a change in the underlying list data is detected. LiveListData consumes the built-in SharePoint Web Services to detect any changes.

You have 3 installation options:

1) jquery.sharepoint.livelistdata.js
Unminified version of the plugin. Reference this plugin in your (master) page or use Muhimbi Infuser (http://www.muhimbi.com/blog/2009/07/massage-sharepoint-into-submission.html).

Initialize by calling:

$(document).ready(function() {

$.livelistdata();

});

Alternatively, for the more advanced users there is the option of specifying any of the following configuration parameters:

$(document).ready(function() {

$.livelistdata({
interval: 5000,
opacity: '0.1',
wpproperties: ["ListName", "ListID", "ListIdentifier"],
exclude: ["editform\.aspx", "newform\.aspx", "/notonthissubsite/"],
prompt: true,
promptformat: "Web Part '{0}' is about to reload. Press OK to Continue."});
});

});

interval delay in ms between webservice poll requests
opacity opacity (0.0 to 1.0) of the web part to indicate it is in the process of being updated
wpproperties an array of web part property names to look for that hold ListIDs.
exclude array of Regex patterns, LiveListData will be disabled on pages that have a match in the url with any of these patterns.
prompt boolean value specifying whether an OK/Cancel javascript prompt will popup if a change is detected
promptformat message shown in the prompt, if prompt is enabled. {0} is the placeholder for the web part title

2) jquery.sharepoint.livelistdata.min.js
Minified version of the plugin. Same as above, but optimized for minimal download time at the cost of code readibility.

3) jquery.sharepoint.livelistdata.cewp.txt
Content Editor Web Part version - copy contents into a CEWP and you are ready to go. This is the easiest option, but you will have to drop a CEWP on every page where you want the functionality.
